VMEC News Release – VMEC Hires Mark O’Hearn
as Business Growth Advisor – Supply Chain

Randolph Center, Vermont –  The Vermont Manufacturing Extension Center (VMEC) is pleased to announce the addition of Mark O’Hearn to its team.

Mark has spent his entire civilian career in manufacturing. After serving in the U.S. Navy as a Gas Turbine Engineer, he worked for a rolled aluminum products company for over 15 years. He received his Six Sigma Black Belt training while working in Maintenance and Engineering. After earning his MBA, he brought his continuous improvement mindset to Operations, working as Supply Chain Manager, Continuous Improvement Manager, and Plant Manager. During that time, the company shifted to a Lean operating model, which Mark fully embraced. Mentoring and developing new leaders are Mark’s bailiwick. He is happiest when a member of his team successfully takes over his, or another, leadership role.

As Business Growth Advisor – Supply Chain, Mark will be focused on introducing Vermont manufacturers to CONNEX™ VT.  The newest service offering from VMEC, CONNEX™ VT is a complimentary, online platform that connects all Vermont manufacturers, buyers, and suppliers in a single, searchable supply-chain solution.  VMEC launched CONNEX™ VT in late August and shortly thereafter, entered into a supply chain partnership with the Vermont Chamber of Commerce, with each organization’s goal to strengthen Vermont supply chains to benefit the Vermont manufacturing industry. The Vermont Chamber’s annual Manufacturing Summit brings OEMs & Prime buyers, suppliers, and partners together from the U.S. and Canada for virtual and in-person networking.

Born and raised a New Englander, Mark decided to come home after the kids had graduated from college and left home to lead lives of their own. Since moving back to Vermont, he has worked in Continuous Improvement and Operations Management in the construction products and aircraft component industries. Recently, Mark started his own business consulting company, working as Project Manager for large manufacturing automation and rooftop consolidation projects.

Outside of work, Mark spends as much time as possible in the woods or on the water. He also enjoys cooking, making music and riding his motorcycle on Vermont’s back roads.  Mark can be reached at [email protected] or (802) 380-6267.
