They started a company combining their culinary backgrounds and collective love for empanadas “because they are a taste of Argentina,” Jackie’s home country. Their business roots began by catering a family wedding. Soon they were selling at farmers markets and began catering.

Based in Williston, Vermont, this family business designs, manufactures and installs shades and comprehensive window treatments for businesses, schools, and homeowners worldwide.
GPMS International – Maker’s Fund
Based in Waterbury, VT, GPMS International, is the leader in predictive health & usage monitoring systems (HUMS), flight data monitoring and rotor track & balance for rotorcraft. Their systems, used in aerospace markets for rotation equipment, monitor vibration sensors where data is used for predictive maintenance, sensing any deteriorating performance which leads to scheduling maintenance before a system fails. Started in a garage by co-founders Eric Bechhoefer, CEO & Chief Engineer, and Jack Taylor, Senior Software Architect, the ten year old company employs approximately 25 people and serves both U.S. and international markets.
Dell’Amore Marinara – Maker’s Fund
Frank Dell’Amore began his hospitality career as a pizzeria owner in Plattsburgh, New York. In 1986, he crossed the lake into Burlington, VT where he started a second pizzeria as well as bottling his family’s tomato sauce recipe. The sauce, produced in small batches as Dell’Amore Marinara, uses quality ingredients such as fresh cut garlic and whole plum tomatoes; the bottle’s label holds a picture of Frank’s grandmother, Filomena, taken in 1914 in a photographer’s studio in Italy. As Frank’s sauce business began to grow, he started selling to mom and pop retail markets as well as larger supermarkets; his gourmet sauce was written up in the Boston Globe and from there, the orders kept coming!
