The Vermont Manufacturing Extension Center (VMEC) today launched its latest program, CONNEX™ Vermont, designed to strengthen the local and domestic manufacturing supply chain. Through CONNEX™ Vermont, Vermont manufacturers will be able to better connect with each other, find local suppliers, discover new business opportunities and manage their supply chains.

A federal two year grant of $400,000 has been awarded to VMEC, the Vermont Manufacturing Extension Center, to assist Vermont small and medium-sized manufacturers in building their supply chain initiatives.

As the only singularly-focused resource for manufacturers in Vermont, VMEC is the official representative of the MEP (Manufacturing Extension Partnership) National Network in the Green Mountain State. Since its inception over 25 years ago, VMEC’s federal partner, NIST, the National Institute of Standards and Technology, has used an independent third-party organization to conduct surveys of VMEC clients as well as other MEP Centers across the US and Puerto Rico.

Newly elected to the VMEC Advisory Board for two-year terms were Melissa Bounty, Assistant Director, Central Vermont Economic Development Corporation (Montpelier) and Cristin O’Donnell, Director of Training and Development, Cabot Creamery Cooperative/ Agri-Mark Inc. (Waitsfield). Dr. Parwinder Grewal, Ph.D., President, Vermont State University (Randolph Center) was designated an ex-officio Advisory Board member.
