Leadership Skills for Mentors and Trainers

Virtual • 12:30pm - 3:00pm • $500 pp
How are you preparing your mentors to succeed?

Every workplace relies on mentors – people who help new hires adjust to expectations, teach essential job skills, and advise or advocate for those navigating career pathways. Whether your mentors are experienced trainers, informal onthejob guides, or supervisors supporting individuals in Registered Apprenticeship programs, their effectiveness directly influences retention, productivity, and workplace culture. To strengthen this critical role, VMEC, in partnership with the Vermont Department of Labor (VTDOL), is offering a practical and accessible five session course designed to give mentors and trainers reliable methods and tools they can use every day.

This course provides structured methods, practical examples, and tailored coaching opportunities based on individual and organizational goals. Participants will practice applying mentoring and training methods that support consistent and real workplace improvement and leadership.

This offering is remote for easy access statewide. If you are looking for different dates, formats, or an in-person offering, contact VMEC’s Carla Wuthrich.

Group sessions will be held from 12:30 pm – 3:00 pm as per the following dates/ weeks:

  • Week 1: March 31 – Essentials for Mentoring
  • Week 2: April 7 – Sharing Know-How
  • Week 3: April 14 – Setting Targets and Taking Action
