Training Within Industry – Job Methods (TWI-JM)

American Meadows, 379 Bryce Blvd., Fairfax, VT • 8:00am - 4:00pm • $195 pp

Be more effective with people, equipment and materials you already have on hand!

Training Within Industry – Job Methods (TWI-JM) is designed to build a team culture focused on daily incremental improvements by more effectively utilizing the people, machinery and materials already in place. The training provides a structured approach for workers to bring their improvement ideas forward and to validate that improvement through a four-step process:

  1. Breaking down the work into detailed steps including material handling, machine and hand work.
  2. Analyzing every detail of the current work process by asking questions about necessity, purpose, placement and personal needs.
  3. Developing new methods to do the work by eliminating, combining, rearranging and simplifying details in the process.
  4. Communicating and applying improvement proposals using metrics.

2025 marked VMEC’s 30th anniversary supporting Vermont Manufacturers.  As a way to honor and recognize this milestone, we offered a 70% reduction to our Lean-based “standard” public trainings to 30% of their cost.  As part of our commitment and mission, we are pleased to announce this continued price reduction throughout 2026!
This offering, normally $650 pp, is yours for ONLY $195 pp!

Agenda/ What’s Included in this Valuable Learning Opportunity

This day-long workshop has two distinct experiences; in the morning, you will learn the Job Method approach through observation of simple processes and in the afternoon, continue “learning through doing” with the American Meadows TWI-JM process. An additional half day, which will be scheduled at this session for a future date and time convenient for you and your team at your facility, so you may work on your own company process.  And lastly, you’ll leave with a complimentary packet of American Meadows seeds for your spring planting!

Expected Outcomes

This training provides employees with the skills to effectively and systematically improve their own work, delivering tangible business results while simultaneously boosting employee morale and engagement. TWI-JM creates a repeatable pattern for a high volume of small incremental improvements generating significant savings such as:

  • Reduction in detailed steps on the first pass by 10 – 20%
  • Lower costs through productivity gains
  • Increased throughput
  • Minimized work in process

Previous experience with basic Lean principles is helpful, but not required.
